Choosing To Change – Cause & Effect

A beautiful butterfly landed on the flower blossom. It opened its  wings and displayed a magnificent design of pattern and posture of serenity. The two caterpillars, who were devouring the leaves, heard the swish of her wings and stopped their eating.

” Don’t you wish you were born like that, it’s not fair that some are given the easy path”, grumbled the green caterpillar.

His companion agreed, ” Yes, imagine how wonderful it would be to be able to fly!”

” That is a butterfly and you are a caterpillar, you will never be like that!'” he snapped.

When she heard the word butterfly she felt a stirring within her. It felt as if a spark of life was triggered in her imagination.  For a brief moment she became excited with the possibility.

” What if that is what I am meant to become, perhaps I can change.” The thought continued to stir in her heart.

Lowering his head to continue his munching he said, ‘How can I believe there is a butterfly inside you or me when all I can see is a green fuzzy worm?’

On reflection she decided to trust that all things happen in their own time and soon she would be ready to receive the miracle stored deep within her. She wanted to fly so much that she was willing to give up being a caterpillar.

“‎Transformation is not five minutes from now; it’s a present activity. In this moment you can make a different choice, and it’s these small choices and successes that build up over time to help cultivate a healthy self-image and self esteem.” ~ Jillian Michaels

“Transformation implies a change in the sense of self.” ~ Frances Vaughan
